Commuter Meal Plans

Introducing a Classical Approach...To an Age Old Question
You no longer live in the residence halls. Whether you've moved to Hillside, the Susquehanna Communities, or even to off-campus housing, you just don't have that easy answer to "What's for dinner?" anymore. That's why we've built the following collection of dining plans for you. You can stay in the loop, have access to that incredible array of food choices and take complete advantage of the simple convenience.

COMMUTER PLANS

Commuter Annual
SAVE $30, when you buy this plan
Our Full Academic Year Off-Campus Dining Plan
The Commuter Annual Plan works simply as a debit card and is designed for
off-campus students who like to eat in the dining halls. From your $650 payment,
we automatically deduct $250 for the fixed operating expense. You then have $400 to
spend at your pleasure without the worry of sales tax. This allows you to buy food at
resident pricing in the resident dining halls. You also receive a 10% discount on
retail prices at the Food Court or Nite Owl Cafes. Commuter Annual participants may open
a new plan each Fall semester. Any money remaining from the previous Spring semester
will be added to the new account. You may add additional money at any time. All additional
deposits go directly towards spending money. You pay the operating expense only once per academic year.

  • $250 Operating Expense
  • $650 Total Plan Cost

Commuter Semester
Our One Semester Off-Campus Dining Plan
The Commuter Semester plan works simply as a debit card and is designed for off-campus students who like to eat in the dining halls. From your $340 payment, we automatically deduct $140 for the fixed operating expense. You then have $200 to spend at your pleasure without the worry of sales tax. This allows you to buy food at product cost in the resident dining halls. You also receive a 10% discount on retail prices at the Food Court or Nite Owl Cafes. Commuter Semester participants must open a new plan each semester. Any money remaining from the previous semester will be added to the new account. You may also add additional money at any time throughout the semester. All additional deposits go directly towards spending money. You pay the operating expense only once per semester.

Commuter Plus
This is a Retail Dining Plan designed for students who want an occasional meal on campus and who generally eat in the Food Court or the Susquehanna Room. It's best to initially enroll in this plan at the beginning of the Fall semester with a $25 (or more, if you prefer) deposit and your plan will continue through the Spring semester. Of course, you may choose to open a Commuter Plus plan at any time during the year. As an incentive, 10 cents will be added to every dollar, every time you add to your account. A little extra that can add up fast. You also save 8% in sales tax on every purchase...a total savings of 18%.

You may use this plan in the Resident Dining Halls; however, we will add a surcharge of 150%. This covers the operating expenses at the time of purchase which the Commuter Annual, Commuter Semester and Resident plan participants pay up front. In other words, you will be charged 2 1/2 times the listed price in the Resident Dining Halls on every purchase made there. This surcharge does not apply to C-Store items sold in the resident dining halls. Any money remaining from the previous semester will be added to the new account when you open a Commuter Plus Plan for the new semester. You may also add additional money at any time throughout the semester.

  • $25 minimum buy-in
  • Sales tax savings of 8%
  • 10% bonus added for every dollar deposited
  • 18% total savings over using cash
  • 150% surcharge in Resident dining
  • Balance on plans is non-refundable
  • Must have a valid Binghamton University ID card. Expired cards will not be accepted
  • Plans that are opened in the fall semester remain valid throughout the end of summer session in August
